Craftsman Home Restoration Oak Cliff, Texas

The owners of the Oak Cliff Craftsman home wanted to restore and update the entire house while retaining design elements of the Arts and Crafts period, They saw their Craftsman home is a work of art and wanted a comfortable, functioning dwelling. A solid, beautiful, and simple house that will serve homeowners well.

To meet the owner’s desire for a nice open look, the wall separating the kitchen from the dining room and the wall separating the dining room from the living room where all removed. The owner wanted to keep the original wood floors, remove all the linoleum from the kitchen floor, and have us refinish the floors throughout the home.We completely gutted the kitchen and bathrooms, rewired the entire home and updated the plumbing throughout. The plumbing repair was carried out as well. Our contractor Flo-Well Drainage did their best to make the plumbing system work perfectly. This article from Marines Plumbing offered prompt and efficient advice. To provide more room in the bathroom the hot water heater was replaced with a tank-less unit that was installed in the Attic. After the floors were completed in the bathroom and kitchen, we installed hand-crafted custom cabinets and a vanity that was designed to provide more storage functionality and add unmatched beauty and style. This Craftsman style home was built in the 1940s and was a part of a movement in American architectural design. Craftsman houses were built all over the nation between 1905 and 1940. The style is popular again, with owners restoring older homes while developers are building new replica homes. The Craftsman style home has its roots in the bungalow, a low slung, comfortable home that originated in India.

This Craftsman Home is a 1,134 square foot , 2-Bedroom, 1-Bath home’s interior was completely remodeled. The project included new wiring, plumbing, re-texturing all walls and ceilings, sanding and refinishing the all the wood flooring, designing and installing new Renowned Cabinetry in the kitchen and bathroom. The new country kitchen featured a farm sink with an apron with MSI Surfaces for all the tile and countertops. The owners chose Shaker style cabinets for the kitchen,  which we was painted white.  As part of the renovation we also replaced all the windows and doors with new Milgard windows and doors.

To add additional room in the homes’ only bathroom, we removed the old water-heater and replaced it with a tank-less heater installed in the attic. New renovated bathroom had a new floor plan that was designed by our in-house team.

For the backsplash we used a MSI Surfaces’ Subway Gray Glossy Inverted Ceramic Beveled Tile. The foggy gray tone that is accentuated by the unique indentation in the tile. The owners choose these tiles for classic and timeless backdrop in their kitchen.

Dallas Urban Condo Master Spa-Bathroom

This 2 Bedroom - 2 Bath condo at The Renaissance on Turtle Creek had not been updated and had the same finish dating back to original to the building’s construction in 1998. This traditional palette was not at all what the new owners had in mind for their living space. Their last home was very modern with concrete walls, large stone tile and they wanted to do something similar in the new place.

Renowned Renovation removed the existing flooring, master bathroom cabinets, trim, and the master bathroom tub. The existing master bathroom had a door allowing guest access from the hallway, which was closed to create a private master bathroom suite with a personal spa. This was accomplished by converting the existing tub into a steam shower. Storage space was maximized in the master bathroom by installing a large custom double vanity with a storage tower.

Master Bathroom - Contemporary master bathroom gray tile gray floor and concrete wall, split-pebble shower floor, steam spa bathroom idea with overlay-panel gray cabinets, porcelain white countertop,

The Bathroom features the next generation of Mirror and Lighting integration from Paris Mirror. This 70x32 inch backlit rectangle mirror eliminates the need for wall lighting usually found above traditional mirrors. The LED mirror creates a clean - modern look in this condo’s bathroom.

The owners chose the Uptown™ Glazed Porcelain Series by Emser Tile because it features subtle textures and color variation giving their master bathroom a timeless, urban feel

We installed a Invigoration™ Series Steam Generators with Controls from Kohler that turns the shower into a spa-like experience with steam.  This private steam bath is ready in just 60 seconds. With the press of a button, this 5-kilowatt steam generator delivers the purifying benefits of steam, including respiratory relief and cleansing the body of toxins and impurities, to the shower stall.

The owners wanted to update their condo with an open floor plan, raised ceilings, new kitchen, new bathrooms and tile floors, and a new multi-use living room with hardwood floors.

The client engaged SHM Architects to take their vision, design a new layout, and create the permit-ready plans .

Working closely with the owners, the city, the Homeowners Association (HOA) and the property management team Renowned Renovation ensured all the plans, permits, and work complied with rules and regulations to deliver a well-built home with meticulous detailing and high-end materials. Our project management app, BuilderTrend keep everyone in the loop and help create little or no stress for the owners. We completed the condo remodeling project on schedule and in the budget.

In compliance with the Condo HOA rules, remodeling work could only occur on weekdays, between 9 o’clock in the morning and 5 o’clock in the evenings. Everything that had to be removed or installed had to be scheduled and highly coordinated because there were limited street-only parking and there was no storage area. Everything had to be moved in and out using a 6′-by-6′ elevator 15 stories each way. We took many elevator rides during this high rise condo remodeling project on schedule and in the budget.

One challenging element of remodeling this high-rise condo was that the owners wanted to raise the ceilings as high as was possible which required that we replace most of the legacy wiring, fixtures, and the air conditioner ducts needed for the new HVAC system to effectively heat and cool the home. One challenge we discovered after the demo was to achieve the open kitchen concept it was necessary to move a roof drain. We entrusted it to Houston Roofing, who has provided quality residential and commercial roofing services for decades. To obtain approval we needed an engineering assessment, code compliance expert, variance from the City of Dallas, approval from the HOA, coordination with HOA’s roofers, coring a new hole in the roof deck, and finally plumbing the new roof drain location.

The owners’ selection of materials, fixtures, appliances, furniture-grade custom cabinets, and the remote-controlled hideaway Murphy bed reflected their desire for function, luxury, durability, and style.

Lochwood Master Bathroom Remodel

From 60's Pink to Modern Luxury

Lochwood Master Bathroom Remodel of this vintage pink bathroom from the 1960’s that was adorable, but not functional. It was due for a much-needed update with a touch of luxury. We reworked the layout by taking over some unused closet space in an adjacent bedroom and used it to create a luxurious modern shower.

During the East Dallas, Lochwood Master Bathroom Remodel Renowned Renovation removed the old tub/shower combo in front of the window, creating more space for the toilet and vanity. Which provided the necessary room to add a double vanity and allowed more light to come into the area. Good use of space coupled with traditional marble in a modern style entitled this bathroom to be labeled Modern Luxury.

After demolition, we built 2 pocket doors, added a new concrete mud pan, bench and niche for the shower, retiled the bathroom floor and shower walls, installed a frameless shower enclosure, prefinished vanity with top and sinks from Kohler. We replaced the bathroom window, installed shower floor that was 2″ hex marble, Carrara White, The shower walls and bathroom floor were 4 x 16 classic white carrara. Fixtures were from Kohler with a white quartz countertop. The Bathroom vanity was from Renowned Cabinetry

     5-Star Remodel !

We are very happy with our remodeled bathroom and the experience with Renowned Renovation! We did a full gut and remodel of the 1960's original master bathroom in our house. The Designer was great in the beginning with design and selection help. Since this was our first remodel experience, we didn't have much experience picking out tile, fixtures, etc. Melissa offered great advice and got us pointed in the right direction!

Once we started the project Darryl was our Project Manager and kept us up to date weekly on progress, schedule and any decisions we were needing to make. There were a few delays due to crew scheduling, but the team always did their best to accommodate our calendar and get everything rescheduled ASAP.

Another great benefit is the project management software they use. It provides real time updates and pictures daily as progress is done. Overall we had a great experience and would recommend Renowned Renovations to friends and family!
